Internationalise a local business forum to enhance the impact of the creative industries in the divisive debate about free Internet access and intellectual property rights within the digital landscape among EU institutions and Brussels-based stakeholders.
Netopia – Forum for the Digital Society
A Multi-stakeholder Platform to Enhance the Perspective of the Creative Industry in the EU Digital Agenda
MSL in Brussels supported the set-up, design, and deployment of a wide range of activities under the umbrella of a pluri-disciplinary and multi-stakeholder platform sponsored by several organizations operating in the creative industries, represented by an independent and trustful spokesperson.
Since 2012, our team in Brussels has seen to the internationalisation of Netopia, initially a local platform of mainly Swedish scope and outreach. MSL Brussels managed Netopia’s secretariat, handled design, production and content of a dedicated website, developed original position papers and reports from experts, conducted stakeholder events and media outreach, all articulated in annual plans of action. The programs have contributed to deepening the debate on the digital society and helped lift the creative industry’s stake in the EU debate on the future of Internet and EU policy direction.
The Netopia spokesperson has been regularly invited to contribute to a wide range of high-level EU and national institutional hearing and stakeholder’s events, also gaining visibility in the most relevant European media. The EU recently adopted legislation that takes into consideration the copyright model supported by the creative industry.
