MSL Names Stephanie Smith Chief Client and Development Officer
Promoted into Important Global Role
Paris and New York, May 19, 2016 – MSLGROUP has appointed Stephanie Smith as its global Chief Client and Development Officer reporting to Global CEO, Guillaume Herbette. Smith, who will be a member of MSLGROUP’s Global Leadership Team (COMEX), will be responsible for the agency’s top global clients, its overall client-service plan, working with regional new business teams around the world to maximize growth and cultivating opportunities with the clients at Publicis Communications.
“Stephanie is a collaborator and a strong leader who has been an important spark for the growth of our global network over the last several years,” said Herbette. “With her network knowledge, she is the ideal person to help deliver on our ambition to be the most-integrated agency.”

Smith had been MSLGROUP’s Chief Editorial Officer of North America. In less than three years, she built MSLGROUP’s Netflix relationship from a small project-based account to the agency’s fastest-growing global business. She led the agency to competitive wins in France, Germany, Italy, and Spain, and was able to expand further to numerous new markets. MSLGROUP now works with Netflix around the globe; it most recently served as Netflix's partner for its simultaneous launch in 130 countries.
Prior to the Netflix role, Smith served as MSLGROUP’s chief storyteller in North America. She led the North America initiative around content-centric communications, overseeing the 40+-person team of content creators and media strategists. And, she has served as one of MSLGROUP’s top presentation and media trainers to executives and brands.
Smith joined the agency in in New York from ABC News in 2004. Prior to MSLGROUP, Stephanie had a decade-long career at ABC News where she was a network news producer for “World News Tonight with Peter Jennings,” “GMA” and “Nightline.” While at ABC, Stephanie led network coverage of the Gore 2000 presidential campaign and won an Emmy Award in 2000 for her coverage of the Elian Gonzalez story.
